This blog is about consumers and why they do what they do.

I am the Managing Director of Volante Research (www.volante-research.com) – a global consumer insight agency that specialises in brand research. My job is to give organisations a better understanding of their consumers in order that they can become more effective businesses.  Much of my work is international. I counted it up the other day and I’ve worked in 40 markets so far.

I spend my time talking to consumers about their lives and their reactions to new ideas from companies (it could be a new product, or a new ad campaign or sometimes just asking them why they buy what they buy).

I’ve worked with a bizarrely diverse range of organisations, including: Sony Ericsson, Samaritans, British Heart Foundation, Nestle, Xerox and the Crown Prince of Bahrain. In previous lives I was also a planner at two major London ad agencies – JWT and Euro RSCG.
